The conditions arising after the Gaza war have divided people into two groups: one that says stop the atrocities against Muslims in Gaza, and the other that says those making such statements are anti-Semitic or Jew-haters.
The Jews are a community extensively mentioned in the Quran. The Quran states that Allah had given the responsibility of calling people towards Him before Muslims to the Children of Israel. After mentioning the virtues given to the Children of Israel, the Quran also extensively discusses their disobedience and indulgence in mischief. One major fault of the Jews is their excessive racial pride and superiority complex, making them consider others inferior. This led them to restrict a universal religion to a racial one and limit Allah, the God of all worlds, to the Lord of the Children of Israel. Their desire to show themselves superior has surrounded their entire lives. Therefore, they incorporated famous events and personalities from before Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) into their lives, such as the well-known incident of Prophet Abraham’s sacrifice of his son, Prophet Isaac (peace be upon him).
Another example is Prophet Noah (peace be upon him). In Judaism, Prophet Noah is considered a faithful prophet and a mercy for humanity, who, like Prophet Abraham, brought his people to the oneness of God (monotheism) and invited them to the mercy and forgiveness of Allah. Moreover, Prophet Noah is also regarded as the founder of universal ethical principles, and these principles apply to almost all people according to Jews; these principles include avoiding idolatry, avoiding murder, theft, and other fundamental moral principles. Seeing the high status of Prophet Noah(AS) in the Bible, the Jews included him in their ancestry.
The Jews also consider Prophet Noah as the second Adam, meaning that, according to the Jews, all people from this era are ultimately the descendants of Prophet Noah. So, how could the Jews consider themselves the best and superior? To address this, they added another story to it, narrating that Prophet Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. According to Jewish traditions, Prophet Noah built the ark under Allah’s guidance, and he, along with his sons and their wives, boarded the ark and survived the flood. Shem, who was the best and unique son, was chosen as their leader. Ham was shown as the heir of the African people, depicted as extremely evil and alcoholic. Because the Jews have enmity with the Egyptians and other neighboring nations, they portray Jews as the offspring of a righteous person (Shem) and others as descendants of a bad person (Ham). The third son, Japheth, was presented as the leader of the Australian (Southeast Asian) people.
Through this self-made division, the Jews have portrayed themselves as the best and superior, spreading injustice and corruption in the world.
But does the Quran confirm this?
The Quran presents Prophet Noah as a highly esteemed messenger who successfully carried out the task of inviting people to monotheism even in extremely difficult and challenging circumstances. However, addressing the Jews directly, the Quran clearly states that they are not the descendants of Prophet Noah. In Surah Al-Isra (17:3), Allah says, ‘You are those people who We had carried in the Ark with Noah. Indeed, he was a grateful servant.’
It means that the Children of Israel (Jews) are not descendants of Prophet Noah but are descendants of a person who boarded the ark with Prophet Noah (peace be upon him). Therefore, Jews calling themselves the family of Noah or the Semitic race is completely false, deceptive, and a deviation from the truth.
Similarly, in Surah Aal-e-Imran, Allah mentions two prophets and two lines of prophethood and then says that some are the offspring of others, meaning they are not all from the same lineage. So, it has to be considered who the descendants of which prophet are.
Looking at Surah Al-Isra in this context makes it clear that the family of Abraham are the offspring of Prophet Adam, and the family of Imran are the descendants of Prophet Noah. The family of Imran includes Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him), against whom the Jews attempted to crucify, but Allah negated their claim, declaring that he was not the offspring of Prophet Noah. Allah also stated that even if Prophet Noah’s real descendants did not follow guidance, Prophet Noah could not intercede for them. Thus, merely showing a son as good does not make one good; following Allah’s commandments is the guarantee of proximity to Allah and success. Therefore, the Jews calling themselves the Semitic race is a deception that the Quran explicitly refutes, and representing all the world’s people as descendants of Prophet Noah contradicts reality.
Moreover, the Qur’an and history also tells that it was the Jews who tried to crucify Jesus (AS), that is, the Jews who tried to kill Jesus (AS), who is actually from the tribe of Noah , so in a way the Jews are the true Anti-Semitic. and the Jews of today are just prove that they still are the epitome of antisemitic attitudes.
Allah has described the Quran as a criterion, breaking propaganda in its real sense. As Muslims, we can connect with it not only to earn respect in this world but also to dismantle the propaganda of others. May Allah grant us the ability to understand and adopt the Quran and make it a guiding light for ourselves. Amen.”
